Cambridgeshire Mens Squash Team; 2nd County Weeekend 2009/2010. Div 1 Promotion weekend.

A weakened Cambridgeshire Mens County Squash team sponsored by Kentbridgesports travelled down to Oxfordshire to attempt to gain promotion to the National County Premier Stage. Despite missing Harry Leitch and Sammy Chambers a team compromising of Galen Le Chemiant, Staffan Morgan, Neil Rossin, James Powley and Matt Fiveash were confident in making an impression over the weekend. The first match was against a strong Kent side. Despite battling performance from Galen and Steffan at 1st and 2nd strings respectively (both losing 2-3), the team lost 5-0(20-5). Not a good start, however the team rallied together and managed to beat a strong Dorset side 3-2(15-8). The bottom order showed their strength with good wins for Fiveash and Rossin. Powley at 4th string battled back from 2-0 down to pick up a notable win 3-2.

So it was onto the third and final match v Oxfordshire. The home county looked strong all weekend and had won both their matches on the Saturday. Again despite some close matches and some battling performances the team could not cope with Oxfordshires world ranked players. The team lost 5-0(20-3). Overall a decent performance from the team. Oxfordshire gained promotion to the Premier and the Cambridgeshire boys maintain their plave in the national Division 1.
