HCSC Teams 2008/09

Another solid season for the club as we managed to put out six teams for the Cambs leagues, four mens and two ladies.

The season saw the introduction of several new players who have performed really well, namely Dave Potts, Paul McDonald, Paul Jordan and James Berry. Congratulations to the mens fourth team for winning the league title and gaining promotion. The mens first team and both ladies teams managed to secure second place in their respective leagues, again showing that the club is extremely competitive. The second and third mens teams, playing again in the second division managed to maintain their league status, finishing fifth and seventh respectively -this is a very competitive league with several teams very close in terms of points.

Great performances from the men's and ladies first teams who won their league cups in two very competitive matches, played at the club for the first time -a clear indication that the profile of the club and venue has significantly improved since the redevelopment.

Players of the season were Dave Potts and Nayera EI Refee.

A special thanks yet again for John Mitchley for turning out for every team at some point and assisting the fourth team on their way to the league title -again his record stands for itself!

As I am not able to commit to the Summer League James and Colin will be arranging the teams. We will be entering two teams into the Peterborough Summer Leagues this year -posters have been put up for volunteers. It is my intention to hold a team night ahead of next season in order to encourage new players.

Unless there are any volunteers I would be happy to continue as Club Captain and Third team captain. I look forward to another successful season in 2009/10!
