With David Morgan still at the "helm", The Sports Academy has been based at HCSC since 2000. David (ES&R Level IV Coach) is an ex World Tour Professional and still enjoys coaching the Juniors at the Academy and delights in their success. Squash Coaching is led by the Head Squash Professional Colin Griggs (ES&R Level III Coach) supported by England Squash Coaches Tania Bailey (ES&R Level III Coach and ex WISPA world tour professional) and James Powley (ES&R Level III Coach). Level II Coach Nicky Hastings and Head Coach Colin Griggs train the "up and coming" youngest players, many of whom go on to future success at County and National Level. There are some eighty young players in Sports Academy programs, with a number of juniors in the UK top 20 at many age groups. The SA is managed on a day-to-day basis by Nicky Cope who is the Sports Academy Administration Manager. Please contact Nicky for further information on Membership, Court Booking, Equipment from the shop etc.
HCSC has flourished throughout its history. Many club members have represented the County, universities and various countries at different age groups. The Club has held exhibitions by ex-World Champions. | Weather |
Hunts County Squash Club (HCSC) was
founded in 1967, and is one of the most active squash clubs in
Cambridgeshire. A fourth exhibition squash court was added in April
2006, the first to be built in Cambridgeshire for a number of
years. With a seating capacity in excess of 125 spectators, front
and rear wall video facilities for both coaching and recording of
major events and under floor heaters for controlled heating, the
court has already been approved by England Squash as a venue to
hold national training days and open tournaments, and is now home
for the British U23 Squash Championships.
We have 4 men's and 2 ladies teams
competing in the Cambridgeshire squash leagues. Matches are played
every week all over the county. A very high standard of squash can
be seen in the top divisions of which Hunts County have been
Winners in past years. The club prides itself in catering for all
needs from beginner to Professional and is proud to be home of the
Sports Academy. We also hold several club tournaments each year.
This includes handicaps, doubles, and club championships. The
tournaments are extremely sociable and enjoyable.
